Frequently Asked Questions

What is copywriting for therapists?

I write website content in your voice through a collaborative process. The goal is to produce effective marketing copy that feels (to your ideal client) like sitting down in person with you.

How much input will I have in the writing process?

The writing process will be guided by your feedback at every step of the way, including your responses to a brief questionnaire before any writing work begins on my end.

Is this unique content, or is it a template you use for any therapist?

The content I create for you will be written from scratch for your specific therapy practice, based on the information you provide during the first phase of our collaborative process. My goal is for the writing to sound and feel like as if it came directly from you.

If I hire you as a copywriter, will I own the content?

Yes, the content that you’ve paid for belongs exclusively to you. Copyright transfers to you on receipt of full payment, and you can use the content however you like. Note: I don’t recycle content found elsewhere on the Internet (that’s plagiarism, and it’s unethical). I use a collaborative writing process in which every part of your project is shaped around your initial input as well as your feedback on the work as it evolves.

What happens if I don’t like what you write?

No worries — revisions are an expected part of the process when we are new to working together. That’s why two revisions are included in the fee and timeline for your project. I want you to feel completely satisfied with the content we have created together.

Can I see samples of your copywriting? How do I know what your writing will be like?

In order to protect the privacy of others who have hired me as a ghostwriter, I do not provide samples or links to previous work.  (By the way, the testimonials on my homepage and Congruence Critique page are posted with explicit written permission.) Keep in mind that my goal as a ghostwriter is to produce content that conveys your voice. My work will be always compelling and easy to read, but the tone and language used in your projects will be specifically based on your parameters. Crafting your web copy or therapist directory profile is a collaborative process, ensuring that the content sounds like you.

Do you delegate the work to other writers?

No, I will personally write every word of the project we’ve agreed on, regardless of whether it’s a directory profile or text for your website.

Can you also design my website for me?

I’m not a designer, but I can recommend a couple of colleagues who are former clinicians now specializing in website design for therapists: Hold Space Creative or Design for Therapists.

Can you help me with SEO (search engine optimization)?

I don’t do keyword research, but I’m able to support your existing SEO strategy by incorporating your keywords in natural-sounding ways.

Rather than focusing solely on SEO as a way to attract potential clients to your website, I want to make sure that your ideal client can feel that your content is speaking directly to them. Good SEO gets clients in the door, but the primary job of your website text is to make them feel at home so they’ll reach out to schedule with you.

Can you give me advice about how to rewrite my own therapy website?

I offer a customized Congruence Critique service for therapists who feel confident in their writing skills but want detailed guidance in how to improve their existing text. I’ve also written a D.I.Y. therapy website ebook for people who want a general guide to creating a brand-new therapy website that’s as effective as possible.

How much does copywriting cost? Do you have an hourly rate?

Instead of an hourly rate, I charge a flat fee for copywriting. Click here to view writing packages that might meet your needs.
